The Story Behind Our Octopus
Why an octopus? When our founder Maria was working as a high school counselor, she noticed that successful post-graduation transitions required students to navigate multiple complex systems simultaneously – just like an octopus using all eight arms to move through challenging underwater terrain. Each tentacle represents a different support area: college prep, career training, mental health, housing, food assistance, legal aid, financial literacy, and workforce entry. Our mascot reminds us that there's no single path to success – sometimes you need all eight arms working together to reach your destination.
"The octopus represents our belief that every student has multiple forms of intelligence and potential. We help them discover and use all their 'tentacles' to create their own unique path forward."
- Maria Rodriguez, Founder
